*If you are below 170 lbs this kayak feels more like an increible high performance river running creek boat (Squirts and Splats are still very possible but need good technique)…Once you get over 180-190lbs you can really start to turn this design into a half slice play machine. The heavier you are the more playful the kayak will be, but it will continue to support you safely through class 5.
Description
The Skuxx is the addition to the Waka range that we have all been waiting for. It is a fast, flowy and fun short half slice that is dynamic and nimble. Named with some hard out kiwi slang with a versatile meaning, this kayak is also Waka’s most versatile boat. Down-river freestyle, wave moves and surfing, river running, and flat water tricks this kayak is an all-rounder.
The Skuxx design draws from the Steeze with width and volume around the cockpit. It has a more specific surf hull that is super loose and responsive. The tail is stable, making flat water moves and stern squirts easy. What sets the Skuxx apart though is that despite its shorter length it is still fast, floaty and comfortable in class 4-5 water, an amazing combination.
The Skuxx suits a wide weight range. It is easy to roll, and great for beginners through to the pros.
The Skuxx Deluxe is the same as the Skuxx but is the “puffy” version with extra volume in the stern. This makes it ideal for harder runs where the extra volume is needed, or to help with extra pop off waves for kick flips and down river freestyle. The Skuxx Deluxe will also provide that extra volume needed for heavier paddlers to stay floating.

Easy to adjust outfitting is what the Skuxx has been equipped with. We wanted to have strong but fast adjustment to our outfitting to ensure it caters for everyone from schools to experts.
Seat
The seat is roto-moulded. It has three screw holes under the hip pads on seat tab to adjust the seat position. Just loosen two screws and the seat will slide forward and backwards. The seat is very comfortable, especially over longer periods of time.
Hip Pads
Shaped pads are provided that velcro onto the seat. Also they have two straps that go around the seat to prevent losing them in a swim. Two extra pads for each side are provided for easy adjustment. You can put one or two pads between the shaped pad and the seat as required.
Back-band
The back-band is extremely comfortable. It has two ratchets and ladders, making it easy to adjust and tighten. It can be adjusted even more by altering the length of webbing on the back of the back-band. The back-band has been mounted to allow for easy access to any safety equipment or overnight gear stored behind the seat.
Thigh braces The thigh braces are extremely comfortable. They are simple, light weight and most importantly, very effective, giving you perfect control. The thigh braces in the Steeze have purposely been left longer for extra knee grip for the full on boaters. If you find this is to much or want easier exiting from your boat you can easily trim the braces down 5mm-10mm preferably with a rasp.
Foot-block
The foot-block is fully adjustable thanks to four thumb-nuts on the inside of the hull. The width of the foot-block is also adjustable, depending on the position of the foot block.

We were lucky enough to get some of the first Skuxxes out of the oven sent over to Washington. Juicy levels on the White Salmon and Little White welcomed us with a rowdy introduction to this new amazing design. While the Skuxx is easy to squirt and stern stall, it is also extremely capable on class 5. The hull is one of the loosest surfing platforms I have ever felt. Spinning, blunting, and surfing an 8 foot hybrid design has never felt easier. The Skuxx is a downriver play boat, but when encounter some scary/pushy rapids, the class Waka performance is there to have your back.
